Four areas of public-benefit work.
Our work focuses on open learning, community technology assistance, mentorship, and resilience research.
Each area connects practical knowledge to a community need: clearer guidance, better decisions, stronger skills, and greater preparedness.
01. Blackwood Learning
Blackwood Learning is our open educational work, covering cybersecurity fundamentals, technology adoption, AI governance, organizational preparedness, and resilience.
Guides, checklists, templates, and research notes should address practical questions, explain their intended use, and identify when specialist advice may be needed.
Start with our cybersecurity checklist for community organizations. Additional resources will be published as they are completed and reviewed.
02. Community technology assistance
Community technology assistance focuses on selective pro bono guidance for organizations serving the public, including local associations, charities, educational institutions, and volunteer groups.
Areas of assistance may include account access, cybersecurity priorities, technology planning, and recovery preparedness. Direct assistance requires a defined scope, appropriate authorization, and available capacity.
03. Mentorship and education
Mentorship and education center on practical skills, career guidance, technical understanding, and opportunities for people to learn from experience.
Potential formats include individual mentoring, workshops, presentations, guest lectures, and community education.
04. Resilience research
Resilience research focuses on lessons about technology, operational controls, cybersecurity, preparedness, and the systems on which communities depend.
Publications will identify sources, distinguish observations from interpretation, acknowledge limitations, and incorporate corrections where necessary.
How we measure usefulness
The measure is whether the work helps people understand a problem or take a useful next step. As activities take place, the Foundation intends to report resources published, educational engagement, organizations assisted, and relevant outcomes that can be verified.
The Foundation is not soliciting donations or running grant, scholarship, or open technical assistance application programs.
